I’m a on a low FODMAP diet. Can I use Formulite products?

There are no hard and fast answers. It depends on what stage you are at in the FODMAP testing protocol and which FODMAPs you can tolerate.

The FODMAP Diet

As background, some carbohydrates are not fully digested or well tolerated by some people. These carbohydrates are known as FODMAPs which stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. They are categorised as fructans, galacto-oligosaccharides, lactose, fructose and the sugar polyols – sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, mannitol, isomalt and lactitol. It is often recommended that people try a low FODMAP test diet to see if this improves their gut symptoms. If the diet helps, people should work through a series of FODMAP challenges to see which FODMAPs are causing their symptoms and ultimately check the quantities that trigger symptoms. It is extremely unusual to have problems tolerating every FODMAP and the full low FODMAP test diet is overly restrictive as a permanent diet.

In General

Formulite products have not had FODMAP testing. Individual tolerance varies but our formulations are a useful starting point for assessing their suitability for you.

Formulite Shakes

Formulite shakes have inulin, which contains fructans, and milk proteins that contain lactose. They do not contain known sources of other FODMAPs. They are also gluten free. If you have trouble tolerating lactose, but like our shakes, you could try taking one with a lactase tablet to help digest the lactose and reduce your symptoms.

Formulite Bars

Formulite bars contain small amounts of lactose – 1.9 g in the chocolate bar, 2.1 g in the lemon bar. They contain small amounts of sorbitol – 3.3 g in the chocolate bar and 3.2 g in the lemon bar. They do not contain known sources of other FODMAPs. They are also gluten free.

Formulite Recovery Protein

Formulite Recovery Protein does not contain known sources of FODMAPs. It is gluten and lactose free.

FODMAPs soups contain lupin flakes which are high in fructans and galacto-oligosaccharides. They also contain onion powder and garlic which are high in fructans. They do not contain other known sources of FODMAPs. They are gluten and lactose free.
